Brick House a contemporary house on the edge of the Renfrewshire countryside
Located on a beautiful secluded site with views to the south across open countryside, this new
efficient home replaced an unimaginative and inefficient 1950s build.
The design is sharp and simple in form, echoing the best intentions of the other modernist
houses on the street. The roof line spirals from the single storey kitchen area facing east, and
rises around the perimeter of the house to cover the upper master bedroom with views across
the field towards a rising sun. This spiralling roof is zinc clad and contains the elevations below
it under clean angled edge. Walls are finished in a durable textural handcrafted imperial sized
brick finish. Windows provide light and visual connection to the garden, sunshine and views.
Spaces are flexible, functional, light filled and interesting.
